    FAQ

Can bar soap be USDA 95% or 100% Organic?

Very good question. In bar soap, Sodium Hydroxide (lye) is a processing aid, used to convert the fat in the oils to soap. Although none remains in the soap, we must still count the amount of lye used in the process.  This brings us below the 95% organic content required to wear the USDA seal.

What is the best way to care for my bar?

When you are done washing, place your bar in a dry spot, out of the spray of the water so your bar may dry between uses. A well-draining soap dish helps with this too and keeps the bar from getting soggy (which shortens its life span ...I'm sure you can imagine:)

As a fun fact, handcrafted soap is much different than traditional bars at the store. Those bars are not allowed to be called soap, which is why they are called Deodorant Bars, Beauty Bars etc... The upside is they last longer - the downside is what is in them. We prefer our soap the old-fashioned way!
